Happy Thanksgiving!

Whew...it is almost midnight and everyone has finally settled down after a fun filled day. Two of Katie's cousins came home with her so we went bowling tonight hoping they would be worn out..yeah, right. The little buggers wore me out but managed to catch a second wind themselves! Where do they get all of that energy?

It is tradition in my family that we all take a covered dish or two and head to granny's house. This year I took macaroni & cheese & potato salad. I also took a coconut cake. I cheated on the cake and bought it at Sam's. I love to bake but have never attempted to bake a coconut cake.

It wasn't the same this year without my brother and his family being there but overall, it was a pleasant day. Of course, we cooked too much, ate too much and had too much food left over. One by one we will all end up dropping by granny's tomorrow to finish off those left overs! That is also tradition for us :} Some of us will head back to work, others will hit the after Thanksgiving sales. Me? I will be scouting around town until I find the perfect Christmas tree! I am so excited! The sights, sounds and smells of Christmas make this my favorite time of year.

Christmas also means that my brother, sister in law and nephew will be popping back into town and I can hardly wait!

For the record, I am totally enjoying my time off this week. I only have one complaint...it is going by much too fast! LOL

I hope that each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you were able to spend it with those that you love most!

Can't believe I did this!

I had this really bright idea yesterday. I took my 7 year old shopping. I had visions of her skipping around the stores full of enthusiasm at being given the opportunity to browse and make a wish list for Santa. We discussed the fact that we were on an adventure. We weren't going to buy anything. We were just wishing. It was going to be so great because she could see things in person before adding them to her list. This year we weren't going to be disappointed because she chose something from a paper advertisement that was less than she expected it to be. So, off we go...me with a pen and notebook and Katie with a heart full of good intentions!

For those of you who know me, you will agree that I am not a gullible or naive person. So what happened ? Where did my common sense fail me? Let me tell you...it failed me from the minute I came up with this hair brained idea that I was going to convince my child that writing the name of the toy down was just as good as buying it!!

The very first item that we came across was a Fly Pentop Computer . Katie's face immediately twisted into at least three emotions at the same time. She was estatic that she had found the hottest toy of the season , she realized it wasn't going home with her last night and she was furious with me for coming up with a new way to torture her! It was not a pretty sight, believe me.

Needless to say, we abandoned the wish list idea. We hit the pet store and ended up coming home with a new Betta. We now have a new member in our family. His name when Katie went to bed was Philip James Dean. This morning he was Jeremy. Tomorrow...who knows?

What I do know is that I will never make this mistake again! There are too many new ones to make! :}

Bows + Dishwasher = Disaster!

Okay...As a general rule, I don't care whatcha do with your bows after you get them. Some people put them on their dogs and I am cool with that. Dogs deserve to be pampered, too :} But...I have received my third email asking if our bows can be washed in the dishwasher and I am now forced to address this issue publicly! LOL

Please, please do not put your hair bows in the dishwasher.
Bows + Dishwasher = Disaster!

All of our hair bows are made using the highest quality materials on the market, including HOT GLUE! Hot glue will melt when it is put in the dishwasher. Please don't sacrifice an innocent bow to prove this theory. Trust me! LOL

The proper way to care for your bows and keep them looking "Picture Perfect" is to wash them by hand in cold water and allow them to air dry. If you have any questions please email me :}

Double the fun

It is always so much fun to share pics that our customers send us! Todays pics are from one of the sweetest people that I know! Her name is Melissa and she is a terrific mom who loves her kiddos a bunch! The following is what she had to say about her girls...

Allison Mae, is 4 yrs. old, going on 24. She loves to play dress-up with her Disney princess gowns, enjoys the outdoors, and loves Mexican food. She is an awesome BIG sister, and has an amazing heart. Allison Mae's Pre-School teachers always love to see what color bow she will be wearing next. She NEVER goes anywhere without her bows. The BIGGER the bow, the better for Allison Mae!!!!!!!

Savannah Lee, is 3 yrs.old. Savannah Lee loves to watch Disney movies, enjoys coloring, and pretty much does EVERYTHING her older sister does! She is such a girly girl, and loves her "picture perfect hair bows." Both girls love to wear matching outfits, so I try really hard to dress them alike, as much as possible.

Thank you for sharing your sweet little girls with us, Melissa! :}

Til tomorrow!

The 411 on Thanksgiving

I can not believe how fast this year has just zipped by me! Can you believe that Christmas is only 34 days away?? Well, DON'T!! It is actually 44 days away...that makes you feel better, right? LOL

This time of year is generally a really busy time around here. Believe it or not people actually order hair bows on Christmas Eve. The first year it happened I almost fell out of my chair but when those after Christmas bills started coming in I was very happy that our customers kept on shoppin' ! Yipee!

In the past, I have not taken any time off for the holidays but this year I have promised myself and my family that I am going to start taking more time to enjoy life rather than zipping through it and then trying to figure out where the time went! That isn't an easy task for me and I might have to temporairly put my computer in storage to make it happen but I am going to give it my best shot!

We will be closed November 19-27, 2005 for the Thanksgiving Holiday. This means that I will not be answering emails or packing any bows that week. I am going to clean my house from top to bottom and put up my Christmas tree and pretend that I have a "real job" and that I am on a "real vacation"! I am going to have a T.V. day where I do nothing but crash on the couch, sip hot chocolate, enjoy my tree and watch reruns of Law and Order all day long! Okay...that is probably pushing it...but I am going to put up my tree and spend lots of time with Katie Bug!

I am really looking forward to a vacation that will be spent at home and not traipsing around Disney World where you need to come home to rest! Did I hear you say, Amen?? hee hee Those of you who work from home will know what I mean when I say that it is hard to stop working when you never leave your "office". This is going to be my first attempt at not working while I am home. If it works out for Thanksgiving I really am going to enjoy Christmas! :}

Until tomorrow...

You have to start somewhere....

I keep thinking that I will start fresh on Monday and blog my little heart out on a regular basis. Unfortunately, something always seems to come up and I am getting nowhere fast! I decided I would just jump in here tonight and give myself some incentive to get back on the right track.

There has been so much going on lately. We had a huge two day sale that knocked my socks off with such a huge response. I will have to try that again right before thanksgiving. Hint...hint...

Katie has been sick off and on for the last couple of weeks and came downstairs a few minutes ago complaining with another sore throat. I will be really glad when she gets those tonsils removed. Poor kid. Apparently she isn't feeling too bad, she still wants to go to the movies tomorrow to see Chicken Little. She wants to see the 3D version but I am not sure it is playing in our area. I will have to check that out before I go to bed since I know it will be the first thing she asks about in the morning.

I took a day trip to North Georgia this past Tuesday with my grandmother, great aunt and aunt. It was one of those bus tours for Seniors. I was kind of dreading it. I do not like to leave the driving to someone else, but it turned out to be a really nice trip and I totally enjoyed spending time with my family. The weather was beautiful but I was disappointed that the leaves hadn't started changing yet. We went to Dillard, GA and had lunch at the Dillard House. If you get the chance to go there I highly recommend it! The food is fabulous! After lunch we headed back in this direction and went outlet shopping in Commerce, GA. Katie was pretty ticked off at me for going without her but a new outfit and a pair of glittery silver shoes from the GAP outlet helped her get over it! That was pretty much all I bought. There wasn't alot of time to shop...another reason why I like to do my own driving. Guess I will just have to go again soon...Okay, I admit it, I just want an excuse to visit the Dillard House again!
