A New Leaf

Um... okay...today I am turning over a new leaf. It is Tuesday, October 9th and I am sitting in front of my computer in my new location. No longer a work at home mom, secure in my little home office. There is no laundry to be tossed in the washer or kitchen counters to be wiped down as I discuss the next season's hair bow line with a clothing designer. It is all business and I feel like a fish out of water!

The new desk, new chair, new printer...nothing is in it's normal place and I find myself wanting to pick up my keys and go home! I won't, of course but this is going to take a lot of adjusting and getting used to. I am incredibly shocked at how difficult it is for me to accept these new changes. I've never been one to shy away from change and I have never understood why others seem to bridle at the mere thought of change...until now, that is....

It is really weird to be back out in the "real world". It has been nice being able to work from home all of these years, but with rubbermaid containers stacked to the ceiling, the sewing machine a permanent resident on the dining room table, clutter every where we turned...well, it was beyond time to venture out!
A year ago I moved everything out of my house and into a building that I planned on opening as a retail store. As it turned out, instead of opening a retail store it became a shipping and storage facility! The retail store idea fizzled until I simply gave up. There just wasn't enough room and frankly, it made things worse because of all of the running back and forth that was required. I also ended up toting way too much stuff back home!
Long story short....last month I made an offer on the building next door and it was accepted. We knocked down walls, expanded here and there and viola...today I am sitting in my new office in my unfamiliar chair trying not to kick the trash can every time I move my feet!


We will be opening the retail store next month. I have butterflies in my tummy! The kind that one gets on the first day of school....OR when you have done something you know is wrong and that you are going to pay for it big time! LOL At this exact moment in time I am not sure what type of butterflies I have...only that they are big ol' suckers!!


The good news is that beginning in November, we will also be offering immediate shipping for everything on the Picture Perfect Hair Bows website. The only exception will be the monogrammed items and well...a slight delay there is to be expected.
So...I am off to finish answering email before it is time to pick up my little one. Maybe it is just because it is my first full day in my new surroundings, but time goes by a little faster here! :}
