The Lil buggers in my life

Wow, I can hardly believe that Easter has almost arrived! I know that I have been mia lately but business really booms this time of year as moms everywhere dress their little ones from head to toe for the occassion. Yipppeeee, for me! I love this time of year!
If I had my way, every day would be spring and I would keep my windows open all year. There is just nothing better than to sit here typing away as the birds sing and the smell of the honeysuckles drift thru the window! LOVE it! What I don't love is that blasted squirrel who hides under the azealea bushes and comes out the minute I put the cushions back on the patio furniture! Last year, I simply gave up while he toted off the entire seat on my swing :{ I figured what the heck, they were old and would have to be replaced and he needed someplace warm to sleep for winter. I was so resigned, I even took pictures of his escapades and he entertained me for a couple of weeks...yeah, it doesn't take much to entertain me! LOL
As it started to get cool in the evenings, that squirrel worked for 8 hours straight one day presumably building a nest for his family (her family??). At one point, I found myself wishing I could help him!
Not this year, though! This year my new cushions were out less than 24 hours before he had attacked them! I am so ticked! I know that I am partially to blame for not discouraging him last year but it doesn't make it any easier to swallow! LOL Guess I will just have to take them in and out this year. What a pain! The little bugger!

Speaking of little buggers...last night, while I was rocking Katie before bed time she started giggling. She told me that her teacher was talking about different methods of transportation and that her teacher had actually ridden on an elephant and a camel before. By now, Katie is hysterical with laughter and I am simply not getting the joke. Finally, she manages to get enough breath to say, "Mama, did I ever tell you that when we went to disney world and you said we were going to ride a ferry to the magic kingdom that I thought you meant we were going to ride tinkerbell?" Uh, no, you never told me that..."Well, I was too embarrased to tell you at the time, but now that I am older I can share this with you."
Now that she is older? Older?!! She can SHARE this with me??!! ACK! She turned 8 last month and actually refers to things in the past as "when I was little..." I find it both amusing and heartbreaking at the same time. I am very thankful that she still wants to be rocked and hope that she will let me do it for many years to come.
The truth is, she isn't "little" anymore and I miss her needing me for everything and thinking that I am the coolest mom in the world. She has become such a wonderful little girl though and her insight is amazing. In fact, I will sheepishly admit that when I was stomping around complaining about the squirrel, she was the first one to say, "Well, what do you expect? You shouldn't have let him tear up the other one." I KNEW that, but found myself at a loss for words and could only stare at her in disbelief!

There is never a dull moment around here!
